Rodrigo Mundoca

From Sao Joao da Boa Vista, Brazil

Our inbound student for the 2009-2010 school year is Rodrigo Mundoca.
He will be in Edwardsville from August of 2009 to July of 2010.

Rodrigo is from the city of Sao Joao da Boa Vista, in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil. It is a quiet town of 90,000 people.

He has one brother.

His father is a marketing consultant and his mother is a lawyer.

Rodrigo characterizes himself as an easy going boy who is cheerful, friendly, and talkative. He is a positive thinker, gets on very well with everybody and dislikes any kind of prejudice. He enjoys having his friends over to his house for some barbecue and swimming.

He turned 18 on September 19th and will be a senior at Edwardsville High School.

He played on the high school soccer team this fall, scoring 2 goals.

After graduating from high school, he would like to attend a university and, with his love for animals, become a veterinarian.

Rodrigo is looking forward to experiencing his first snow fall this winter.

A little about Sao Joao da Boa Vista, Brazil. (from wikipedia.com)

It was founded on June 24, 1859. In the beginning of last century, a group of miners decided to rest at the edge of Jaguari Mirim river, already in Sao Paulo state, and got astonished by the exuberant view of the nature.
They got so delighted that from that day on June 24, 1859 - Saint John's day - the miners started up the construction of the town and, to celebrated the Saint of that day and the amazing view, it was named Sao Joao da Boa Vista.
After only 14 years, the town was claimed a district. On March 24, 1859 it turned out to be a city, and on February 7, 1885 it was considered a judicial district, offering its citizens all the basic infrastructure.
